Jim T, you asked and Cooper answered.

Now we know what Brad Cooper meant when he described his youth group facility as BAMF.

Enjoyed lunch with @daveyblackburn – new Fuse* space in gvl is a Big Audacious Mighty Fortress!

I’m glad to see Cooper knows good hymns.

However (at the risk of being called a nitpicker), shouldn’t the Mighty Fortress be God, not a building?

Could it be that Cooper is taking some heat about BAMF by parents, etc…? By Cooper’s own definition of profanity, changing the word so much that you change it’s meaning is profane(See my link). BAMF is profanity, Cooper trying to weasel the issue by claiming “Big Audacious Mighty Fortress!” make his new acronym profane like the original meaning! You can’t have it both ways Brad.

If he meant Big Audacious Mighty Fortress then why did Cooper try to defend cussing? We all know what Cooper meant by BAMF.

Albert, I agree. It seemed a bit more exclusionary than I would have expected from BCoop.

  4. 4 Josh said on July 24th, 2009:

That’s hilarious. Why not just say, “I shouldn’t have used that term because it’s vulgar and I won’t use it again?”

I’m not as down on Cooper as a lot of folks on here are, but I’d respect him a lot more if he just owned up to it. That would set a great example for the students he’s leading, IMO.

    Josh,

That would be an admission of wrong. God forbid that would be the case coming from such men of vision!

  6. 6 Albert said on July 24th, 2009:

I don’t think that’s what Cooper meant at all. It’s probable that he is feeling some pressure from the discussions on here and other places. However, his explanation is nothing close to an apology or an admittance of error. He’s just too prideful for that kind of thing.

  7. 7 Albert said on July 24th, 2009:

*Also, I think it very apt that Cooper used “audacious” to describe his work.

    Audacious:

    1. Showing a willingness to take surprisingly bold risks

    2. Showing an impudent lack of respect.

BAMF means “Big Audacious Mighty Fortress!”

Yeah, and the Dalai Lama is not a Buddhist either. ;-)
