What he and we need to do is prayerfully, thoughtfully and diligently READ them. A man of the Word must be a man OF THE Word. Saturated in it. Able to rightly divide it. Not proof-text it into irrelevance. At least technically true regarding Jesus' instruction to the churches in Revelation 2-3, Ace's comment about "titles for key staff members" is outright hysterical - and I'd be laughing if it weren't so sad, that a pastor of church (I wonder where he found that title), doesn't know the titles of key staff members for a church. This must be some special Bible that Ace carries around to actually type these comments into his blog for the world to see. My Bible (which I realize is clearly very different than his) contains: Acts 15:2-4; Acts 20:28; 1 Timothy 3:1-10; 1 Timothy 4:14; Titus 1:5-14; 1 Peter 5:1-2, where numerous authors discuss various roles for proper oversight of a congregation. And I'm confident I've missed many more than these. Since he's clearly missing portions of it, think I should send him a copy of my Bible? Love the “now” quote.
