It was impossible to concentrate 4

…when I read this post over breakfast:

The word “impossible” isn’t in God’s dictionary…we should remove it from ours!!!

I couldn’t be sure whether I was reading Noble’s or TFred’s Twitter feed. It was Noble’s.

Let’s think about this.

  1. God uses the word (according to King James) no fewer than nine times, which is pretty impressive for a word that’s not in his dictionary.
  2. Some things are impossible for God. Lying, for example.
  3. God said that many things are impossible for us. So it really should stay in our dictionary.

However, if dictionary is not in your dictionary, you can ignore everything I’ve said.

First, I am offended (sort of) that you would think such comments would be posted on my twitter account. Although I like to comment on words (see: asphalt), I only use twitter for meaningful communication.

Second, I’d like a copy of God’s dictionary. How do I get one? Do they sell copies at NS? Or does Ace have the only one?

Third, I want to see what words are (and aren’t) in it. Piss off? bamf? All this time, I thought these were offensive to some people, but if they’re in God’s dictionary … well then.

I’m glad to see his sermons are thoroughly fact-checked. (sarcasm)

I’ve just realised that Ace and W. Paul Young (author of The Shack) are using the same bible, and it’s certainly a different bible to mine. Theirs seems to have words missing that my bible most definately has.

“My words are alive and dynamic-full of life and possibility; yours are dead, full of law and fear and judgment. That is why you won’t find the word responsibility in the Scriptures.” S/he/it ‘Papa’ to Mack in The Shack p.205

Needing to check out most of what’s in The Shack with the Scriptures, I found that the word responsibility appears 4x in the New American Standard Bible, 5x in the NKJV and a wopping 13x in the NIV. Unfortunately, I haven’t find much the Shack in Scripture.

Gotta go now and find out what bible dictionary these dudes use…
