For those of you with eagle eyes, you may have noticed that James Downing has donned his pajamas and moved from the comments to the front page.

I’m sure you’ll all make him feel welcome.

    James Duncan,

    I’m next, right?

Eventually you’ll come around. Then, yes, of course.

That’s if Seth doesn’t beat you.

I don’t think I will be coming around anytime soon Duncan. I am still a member at NS, I still go there, and I still support what they are do. So I don’t think I will be beating JT anytime soon. Though the vote of confidence is nice.

What better way to get insider information, than to actually be a member there 🙂

Seth, you are in the process of planting a church, right?
If so, do you plan on following the Newspring /Elevation mold, or have you seen things that you would definitely handle differently?

Yes, I am in the planning stages of planting a church. As a church planter, I know that I cannot focus all my attention in learning what one church does, I have to study many churches while also seeking what God would have the church look like. There are things I agree with and there are thing I would do/handle differently.

    Seth,

Much success in the planting efforts. Will it be here or somewhere else?

God has not yet revealed where it will be, so until then I am planning and preparing so when he does call me, I will be ready to go.

    Seth,

You sound like the kind of guy whose church I would love to be at. I hope the Lord prospers your labor and uses you to effect your community and brings the masses to Christ.

    Seth,

Reveal is an interesting (not meant in a bad light)choice of word. Refer to my comment on the vision post. Even the apostles distinquished between when God revealed something to them and when they “thought it good” to do. The apostles were careful to attribute to God those things revealed by him but were equally careful to say when it was they who thought up the course of action.

The lesson: Not everything has to be revealed by God for God to bless. Also, as a future plant leader, you do not need to feel compelled to say God revealed it to you every time so as to establish legitimacy to your leadership and authority. Folks out in the audience will see your kingdom attitude and that will be more than enough. Now if God does reveal something to you, then that’s an entirely different matter.

I would recommend Dallas Willard’s book “Hearing God”. It is a deep read but worth the effort and heavy mental lifting.

When God told me to plant a church, He spoke to me as plain as day. So, I say that because I am not yet 100% certain and so as I look into things and explore options, He will reveal to me through opening doors for our church plant, whether or not certain places are the right place to plant. I am do not go around saying God told me to do everything that it is that I do or say, but when he does tell me something or I am relying on Him extremely that is the way I tend to put it. (and I do understand that everything I so I should seek His guidance daily)

Thanks. I hope and pray that He will use me to do great things for His kingdom and that an amazing impact will be made.

    Seth,

Hopefully the way will be clear soon. Onward and upward!
