The Problem with getting Jacked-up on Jesus
Posted: September 9th, 2009 | Author: James Downing | Tags: jacked-up on jesus | 19 Comments »This is where it leads:
Pay attention Seth, JT, MW, Anthony…and the rest of you. This is where you are headed.
Take a good, long look.

Downing…Is this you?? As I’ve said before, for me jacked up means excited. I dont use it any other way. Refer to my post yesterday.
Did my new signature not give me away?
And I hope you watched the video. That’s your future…bad teeth and all.
There is some really crazy stuff happening in Australia – these are “acolytes” of the John Crowder and Patricia King crowd. Sadly a few people are getting sucked into this nonsense.

Okay so I watched Downing’s video and wasnt sure what I was watching but, Teddy, after watching your link, I think my brain is fried…officially. Can someone explain to me what that was. By the way, in my daily life I think I have said “jacked up” at the most five times BUT I do say “pumped up” quite often. Is that wrong?
This video is very appropriate for the discussion about the use of words.
My guess? The guy in the video is MW.
The video was a light-hearted jab at you guys. This is the first thing that comes to mind when I hear the phrase “jacked up”. It is a lesson about being careful with the tongue though. These guys have already set the excepted meaning for being jacked up on Jesus, and I assume it is one you wouldn’t want to be associated with.
By the way – The guy in the video is a guy named Stacy who is a big-time follower of John Crowder. This video is for real. This is his religous practice. John Crowder is a full on level 1 heretic. Truely, if we don’t place some limits on what is acceptable worship, this is where it leads.
Tommy, are you trying to wind MW up again?
For the record, I know MW, MW is a friend of mine, and this is no MW (no matter what he might write on PP).
I’ve never seen this guy and MW in the same room…
Downing… I’m allowed to absolutely crazy excited though right? Because thinking of Jesus and His unconditional love does just that for me!
As long as you exhibit self-control, I suppose it’s alright. Self-control is the oft forgotten fruit of the spirit.
Anthony,
I hear this from time to time, and though it sounds good, it’s just not true. There is no such thing as unconditional love in the Bible. Selfless, sacrificial love? Yes. Unconditional? No.
The God of the Bible, in both testaments, is one that is very demanding, and places quite a number of conditions on how he relates to humanity.
Read Matt 5-7, Heb 11, James 2, and also all of Abraham’s life, and Moses for that matter (just to cite 5 examples), and then let me know what you think.
JDuncan,
Yes, I am trying to wind up MW. He’s awol.
God loves me even though I am a complete screw up –care to debate that Tommy? Is unfailing love a better term??
Criticism in 5 Easy Steps (The Pajama Pages Way):
1) Find a phrase you want to disagree with.
2) Search for that phrase on Google.
3) Find something bizarre or inappropriate from among the 2 billion Google search results.
4) Demonize everyone who uses that phrase by saying they “should have known” that someone somewhere used it bizzarely or inappropriately.
Did I get it right? I mean, this is the second time in the past week or so where we’ve seen this approach used, isn’t it?
hahahahahahahahahahaha. PRECISELY JT! BangORang!!!
Ahh, you’re just mad cause you aren’t as jacked up on Jesus as the guy in the video…
(Psst. You guys do realize this post was just a goofy joke, right?)
JT
Interesting post.
Preaching the Perry Noble way:
1) Find a church practice you disagree with (having ministers graduate from seminary; Bible studies; mission trips; pastors who visit the sick or perform marriages).
2) Make up an example that is preposterous and is a straw-man that makes Perry’s point.
3) Say (or blog or tweet) something bizarre and inappropriate (like: our series on Sex is going to be “R” rated. Don’t miss it).
4) Demonize other unnamed churches, Christians, pastors, deacons, etc. relentlessly so the congregation will think Perry is the “freakin man” and others should be jealous he’s not their pastor.
Did I get it right? PNoble’s sermons routinely follow this model. It’s easily the most identifiable common thread in his sermons, regardless of topic or passage.
Tommy F…just because your pastor may not be as bold as Perry, please dont be jealous!
Point 1 — Yea, good try but Newspring has been going to Kenya for Mission Trips over the past year. Perry went. Brad Cooper went. That was a juvenile attempt.
Point 2 — Thats called creativity, some of us learned that in school but I guess not in your elementary.
Point 3 — Alot of people blog and tweet and it’s Perry’s own, he can do what he wants. Sorry, you’re not the final judge, Jesus is!
Point 4 — Newspring doesnt do everything the way you like it but that doesnt mean its right or wrong, you just disagree with it. Perry does say things about churches but has never bashed other pastors or deacons directly. BUT if he did, does getting on here and doing the same thing to him excuse you. If what he does is so bad, then why do you choose to do the same? Do two wrongs make a right? That’s the main problem with this blog.
