What’s wrong with being normal? 7

Noble includes this fairly typical exclamation in his notes tonight:

The last thing I want to be is a “normal” pastor who leads a “normal” church full of “normal” people! “Normal” sucks!

Not to get all OED on him, but I think he means average, not normal.

Normal means what’s right. Its root is norm, which comes from the Latin for a carpenter’s square. Webster’s defines normal as “according with, constituting, or not deviating from a norm, rule, or principle.”

The Bible is the norm against which all things are measured. ALL churches should be normal.

It’s the abnormal ones that we should worry about.

It’s interesting that you say, “Not to get all OED on him,” and then proceed to do so anyway.

Yeah. I thought that might wind a few people up. (Like how people say, “I don’t mean to pry, but how much money do you make?”)

For the record, I got Merriam-Webster’s on him, not OED.

First you co-opt my secret decoder ring comment, and now the “”OED and a stick” (although you forgot about the stick part, I see).

I guess I need to start another meme.

It proves that you’re worth keeping around, JT, if only for that.
